Word for the Weekend…

normal1www.thefreedictionary.com (my go-to whenever I do these posts) defines Normal as follows:

A town of central Illinois north-northeast of Bloomington. It is the seat of Illinois State University (founded 1857). Population: 50,700.
Which pretty much sums it up, doesn’t it?!
Of course, it then goes into definitions involving that delightfully ambiguous phrase “the norm” and “standard” etc…but I reckon you can’t have “normal” until you have “abnormal”.
normal3The past couple of weeks haven’t been “normal” for me and I’m feeling it. I want my routine back, or at least some semblance of it. Obviously I have to incorporate Mad Mutt into that routine, and it’s the school holidays which always throws things…but there’s nothing stopping me making a new “normal”. It’s up to me to learn from the past two weeks and work out what I need to do over the next week to get myself feeling happy and “normal” again.
Part of that normal will involve sucking it up and re-reading my “Steve” chapters from the latest draft of Book 3. Avoiding the issue of the unwritable character isn’t going to make me feel any better about myself! I’m also going to look into different writing competitions out there to see if there’s any way of making some more money out of my work (Christmas was only possible last year thanks to my runner-up cheque from the Bitmead Bursary). It’s about time I started back as the Part-Time Writer rather than the full-time chocoholic and part-time knitter. It’s time to get back to my abnormal version of normal.
So, if you’ll all excuse me, I have to go and choreograph a scene involving a jelly!
Happy Weekending!
PS – my apologies if the formatting of this post is completely to pot. When I preview it, it misses out one or two pictures and squashes the writing up…obviously my computer is also going back to “normal” *grin*

  1. Reading this post, I wonder how many of us actually feel “normal”. No matter who you are, it might be that everyone secretly thinks something about them isn’t very ‘normal’. Maybe I’m not being very “normal” saying this….

  2. – you can’t have “normal” until you have “abnormal” –
    I like that.

No worries about the formatting. Everything looks completely normal. 😉
    Have a good weekend!
