Dentists and Synopses…

…two things with the potential to cause me a great deal of pain today! I also have to get through school parent’s evening and a dance audition!

Fingers crossed and touching wood, the dentist will be a straightforward visit with no problems. Thus far I’ve been lucky to make my way through life with no fillings or major problems. I hope today’s appointment will keep to that trend!

My synopsis for Agoraphobics Anonymous on the other hand…well, I know that’s going to cause me a headache over the next few weeks! That and the dreaded query letter. Sigh.

For those of you who have never written a book, it might seem ridiculous that I can write 82,000 words and then panic over a 400 word synopsis and a 3 paragraph letter. For those of you who have gone through the whole submission process, you’ll understand my pain!

Sometimes I wish I could find a website that links to famous authors’ query letters and synopses. How did J.K. Rowling finally get her first book noticed? How did Jodi Picoult summarise her multi-POV novels without getting her knickers in a twist? If any of you know of such a site, or have the clout to get one set up, please let me know!

At least I’ll have fun dancing my socks off tonight, preparing for the first round of auditions for Little Shop of Horrors. Wish me luck!
